Underground coal gasification (UCG) specialist Carbon Energy has announced it has signed its first international technology licence agreement with Chinese coal giant Shanxi Coal Transportation and Sales Group.

 

The deal will see Shanxi use Carbon Energy’s patented UCG technology for the Shanxi Provence.

 

The Definitive Agreement was signed late last month and will mark the first time the Carbon Energy has licensed the UCG technology to a non-equity partner.

 

“Reaching a Definitive Agreement with Shanxi Coal is a major breakthrough for the Company.  Shanxi Coal is a leading coal company and has strong support from the Shanxi Provincial Government.” he said. “We are delighted to have reached this agreement to apply our UCG technology with one of China’s largest coal companies,” Carbon Energy’s Managing Director Andrew Dash said.
