Cazaly Resources’ plan to export iron ore through the Port of Fremantle is in tatters after the Western Australian Transport Minister Tony Buswell and Fremantle MP Adele Carles moved to block the plan.

 

Cazaly Resources, which planned to export 1.4 million tones of iron ore, planned to move its operations through the Port of Fremantle while the capacity of Port of Esperence is expanded.

 

This is Fremantle, it's not Port Hedland, and I do not want to see Fremantle become a bulk commodities port to service the mining boom," Ms Carles stated.

 

The blow to Cazaly Resources comes after the company lost its bid for export space at Kwiana Port, losing its tender to competing iron ore exporter Mineral Resources.

 

“The Government's position is that bulk commodities such as iron ore will not be shipped through the Fremantle Inner Harbour," Minister Charles said.
