Aviation Australia has announced it will help run the University of Southern Queensland’s (USQ) new management degree for aircraft maintenance engineers.

The announcement was made early this week, and will see the leading bodies come together to train the next generation of Australian aircraft maintenance workers.

Authorities say the Bachelor of Business (Aircraft Maintenance Management) qualification is aimed at addressing new industry requirements for supervisory and management expertise.

The degree is open to Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering graduates; it can be taken online, on campus in Toowoomba, or in a combination of internal and external modes.

“This program strengthens Aviation Australia’s position in the international market and in particular South East Asia, with the provision of a superior higher education pathway and product,” Andrew Rankin, Aviation Australia’s General Manager Strategy and Business said.

“The program is also available to our domestic students who want to move to into management with a university education.”

Successful graduates will complete their studies with two qualifications – a Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Avionics) or a Diploma of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (Mechanical) issued by Aviation Australia, and a Bachelor of Business (Aircraft Maintenance Management) issued by USQ.
