Lead Project Development Engineer - Hydrogen

Due to their recent success, they are looking for a Lead Development Project Engineer to drive one of the most advanced Hydrogen projects in Australia.

You will report to the Senior Development Manager and collaborate with a forward-thinking team. This pivotal role will see you driving the development of hydrogen electrolyser facilities projects while also contributing to our solar and energy storage projects.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Development of project conceptual design.
  • Development of functional specifications for the overall project and balance of plant, consistent with project goals and offtake requirements.
  • Management of Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contractor, including making key design decisions based on feedback from front-end engineering design.
  • Assessment and selection of electrolyser OEMs.
  • Negotiation and coordination of any project early works activities, including preliminary design or site investigation requirements such as geotechnical studies, flood studies, and site surveying.
  • Assistance in the development of the project contracting strategy with due consideration to project cost and risk, including interfaces and performance warranties.
  • Market engagement and tendering for EPC contracts, including preparation of key technical requirement documents and selection and evaluation.
  • Negotiation of technical requirements in EPC contracts.
  • Assisting with reviewing and negotiating technical parameters of off-take agreements and ensuring consistency with the project design.
  • Assistance in developing an operations plan for the project and negotiation of long-term service agreements and operation and maintenance contracts as appropriate.
  • Coordination of consultants undertaking project technical due diligence activities required as part of financing.
  • Project management of key engineering, design, and supply contracts, with a focus on quality, time, and cost.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project development and engineering within the energy sector.
  • Strong understanding of the technical and commercial aspects of energy projects in the Australian market.
