About the Role
The Communications Coordinator will lead the development of all internal and external communication and ensure that Firesticks is appropriately represented in the wider community.
Location
The role is remote, and the applicant will need to work from their home. Applicants must live in Australia and there is no specific location requirement. Travel may be required.
Summary of Key Duties
- Develop communication strategies that reflect Firesticks' vision and values.
- Coordinate newsletters, memos, articles, and social media to ensure seamless communication.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Plan events, seminars, and press conferences to promote Firesticks' mission.
- Ensure timely and consistent communications in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
- Manage media enquiries and escalate issues to the Executive Director when necessary.
- Collaborate with the Firesticks team to create impactful and cohesive content.
- Align communications activities with Firesticks' brand, culture, and values, working alongside the Fundraising and Partnerships Coordinator.
- Support strategic reporting and communication planning with the Senior Leadership Team.
About you
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to think creatively and strategically when developing communications
- Sound proficiency with Microsoft office (excel, word, PowerPoint) and CRM systems
- Demonstrated experience in content and report writing
- Knowledge of social media forums/platforms and website content management systems
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Firesticks, with a track record of working with communities and individuals to create positive impact
- Previous experience in a NFP Organisation and ability to engage and work with Aboriginal peoples/communities on sensitive environmental and cultural issues is desirable.
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite of Products is desirable.
Qualifications and experience:
- Degree level qualifications in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations and/or other relevant degree
- Two years’ experience in a Communications role
- Current driver's license
