The Role

Our Wetherill Park site in Sydney is our Milk-Based Beverages hub for the eastern seaboard. This state-of-the-art facility produces 75 million litres of some of Australia's most loved dairy products, including Dare Iced Coffee, Dairy Farmers, Farmers Union, and Big M.

Bega Group is seeking a Safety Advisor for our Wetherill Park site. At Bega, the Safety Advisor role is equivalent to industry standards for a Safety Manager. In this role, you will be integral in improving safety performance at the site by positively influencing site safety practices and behaviours on a strategic and operational level.  The role will provide ongoing advice, guidance, coaching, mentoring and support to the site leadership and management team, employees, and other site personnel to achieve the safety strategies and ensure compliance with legislation and Bega safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the site in identifying and mitigating safety risks and risks to the well-being of all employees at the worksite.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to all employees to help them achieve the site safety strategies.
  • The Wetherill Park Safety Advisor will be a trusted advisor to the site leadership team and provide an independent view of safety performance and compliance whilst working closely with Group Safety subject matter experts for support and an escalation pathway.
  • You will work closely with line managers to ensure thorough risk assessments are performed and critical risk registers are maintained with critical controls implemented
  • Prepare and coordinate the completion of various site reports for safety meetings and drive continuous safety improvement.
  • Assist the site in ensuring compliance with legislation and other Bega safety requirements.

About you

  • Degree or diploma in Safety is desirable, or extensive relevant industry experience.
  • A champion for safety leadership and safety culture, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, is advantageous.
  • In-depth practical knowledge of Australian occupational health and safety management systems, standards, and legislation is required.
  • The ability to build effective relationships and instil trust with all stakeholders is important.
  • Effective time management, organisational, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure, are necessary.
  • Support business processes by understanding and effectively using standard office IT equipment and standard software package
