Marine Engineer

Are you an experienced marine engineer with your MED II? Come and join Australia’s only ocean-grown barramundi farm today!

Reporting to the Skipper, you will be required to oversee the daily operation and routine maintenance of machinery on board the Innovator vessel. 

Cone Bay: You will be working on the beautiful island of Cone Bay in the remote coastlines of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Tassal provides accommodation, a gym and all meals on the island, and we provide a travel allowance for transport from Broome to the island. This is a full time, permanent position, working a 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off roster. 

What does your week look like?

Routine Maintenance: Completion of routine maintenance of machinery on the Innovator, ensuring minimal unscheduled downtime.

Start Up / Shut Down: Completion of start-up and shut down checks and procedures.

Vessel Housekeeping: Active participation in housekeeping of the vessel, with particular responsibility for engine rooms and deck machinery.

Farm Duties: Participation in all general farm duties as requested by the Skipper.

What can you bring?

  • MED II ticket
  • Marine engineering experience
  • Master 4 or 5 (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Self-management, organisation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, and alcohol and drug test.
  • Rights to work full time in Australia.
  • The ideal candidate would be available to start work for 4 weeks on the 30 August 2024.
